Rock, paper, jealousy… beautiful food vendor draws hate online

Apparently, selling foodstuffs is the sexiest occupation around, judging by the many recent discoveries of incredibly hot people peddling edibles. First, we had the KFC hottie, followed by the Pork Princess. And now, there’s another attractive food seller in Pingtung, Taiwan whose beauty is bringing all the boys to her stall, but it seems that not everyone is happy about her particular brand of marketing her wares.

The gorgeous market stall dumpling vendor attracts customers with the promise of free spicy soup if they can win a game of rock, paper, scissors against her, but it’s clear that she’s as much of an attraction herself as the potential free food.

Once a video was uploaded to YouTube showing the vendor, identified as  Ms. Huang, in action selling her dumplings, she became an overnight celebrity. The images have attracted a lot of spiteful comments online, with some even implying that she is “selling her body” rather than her dumplings. Hmm!

Here’s the video!

▼ It looks like everyone who works at her shop has been blessed in the looks department!

▼ She’s even happy to pose for selfies with her fans/customers!

▼ We reckon the haters are just jealous. She sounds like a business-savvy lady to us!

After all, wouldn’t you be more excited to visit a restaurant if all the chefs were as adorable as this?

Is it really still 2015? Some Japanese netizens must be living in the future because over the past 18 months, they’ve had their hearts throbbing for “once-in-a-thousand-years” and “once-in-two-thousand-years” idols in Japan, a “once-in-four-thousand-years” idol in China, and now a gravure model from Vietnam has been crowned to join the millennia babe ranks.

Rocketeers, meet Japan’s latest “thousand-year” sweetheart, Elly Tran Ha.

Born August 6, 1987, Elly Tran Ha is of Vietnamese and Chinese, holds American citizenship, and is active as a model, gravure idol and actress in Vietnam, China and Korea. She has been on the radar of babe fanatics in Japan for several years now, and has recently returned to the cyber limelight because some netizens have started hailing her as a “once-in-a-thousand-years haafu beauty”.

Regardless of nationality or heritage, mixed-race individuals (collectively known as haafu, which means “half”) are generally seen as “exotic”, and are more often than not considered to be very attractive in Japan, so much so that some Japanese women are proactively looking to reel in a foreign catch solely for the purpose of having a haafu baby. Be it on variety programs, crime news, or even in these dubious “thousand-year” titles, if the person in the spotlight is a haafu, you can bet on it to be mentioned.

What sets Elly apart from other “once-in-a-thousand-years” beauty Kanna Hashimoto is, apart from her haafu status, her stunning body proportions. Net users have been bowled over by her sweet smile, but even more so than that, the contrasting combination of her angelic looks and her devilishly ample bosom.

After seeing four of these “thousand-year” babes, we think we’re seeing a trend here. The cyber citizens of Japan have a fondness for sweet-looking cute girls with big doe eyes, long hair, flawless fair skin and a vibrant smile…plus extra kudos if she has an impressively sized bust. We can understand what they’re going for. What we don’t get is, who decides how many thousand-years-rare these girls are, and based on what criteria were they “graded”?

Placing aside the fact that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, surely these titles are just an exaggerated expression and we don’t literally expect such beauties to surface only once in a millennium, but we’d expect them to be fairly few and far between, not one every couple of months! It was intriguing once or twice, but that series of millenia titles is starting to get stale, especially since we honestly can’t tell why one girl is a few thousand years rarer than another. Really, they’re all beautiful in their own ways, aren’t they?

Cute otaku Korean model entrances Japanese men online: “She can’t possibly be real!”

yurisa top

We’ve seen the Japanese side of the internet praise a lot of girls from different countries for their beauty. There’s been online idols from China, Vietnam, Taiwan, and of course plenty in Japan. But one country that has been conspicuously absent is Korea.

Until now. Internet, say hello to the latest girl who’s been melting Japanese hearts online: Yurisa from Korea. Oh, and did we mention she’s a giant otaku too?

Yurisa is a 20-year-old gothic lolita model from Korea who loves posting pictures of her work on her social media accounts. As if that wasn’t enough to get Japanese netizen’s keyboards sweaty already, she’s also a fan of Japanese anime, games, cosplay, and plastic figures. She’s attended several events in Japan as well.

So with that introduction out of the way, let’s get to what you really came here for: pics.

▼ Starting off with a classic, the wide-eyed selfie.

▼ Showing off her Cardcaptor Sakura school uniform cosplay.

▼ Clever use of the selfie stick in place of Sakura’s magic staff.

▼ Some of her gothic lolita work.

▼ And the obligatory Hestia cosplay, though we do have to applaud her for the incredible accuracy on this one.

▼ Just hangin’ out havin’ a tea party.

▼ Fangirling out at a “figurine cafe.”

▼ Putting together a Gundam model of her own.

Yurisa so impressed Japanese netizens with her beauty and hobbies that many were adamant that she “couldn’t possibly be real.” They claimed she had to be photoshopped or something. Well, while we can’t vouch for the above pictures being photoshopped or not, here’re some videos of Yurisa so you can confirm that she is indeed a real human being:

▼ Just casually sipping a drink in a cafe in lolita dress.

▼ You can see her human-ness from a nice, sideways angle too.

If you’ve suddenly found yourself becoming a fan of Yurisa, then feel free to give her a follow on one of her social media outlets below. We can’t promise it’s not a robot updating her pages, but somehow we doubt most people will mind one way or the other.

Japan’s 43-year-old sweetheart is back with a new DVD showing her in schoolgirl uniform, bikinis

YN 4

Back in the cold days of winter, weather forecaster Yuko Nakagawa gave men across Japan a little summery fantasy when she made her bikini-modeling DVD debut. But while Nakagawa certainly has the figure and facial features for that line of work, what set her DVD apart from the scores of other swimwear video collections is that at 43, Nakagawa is old enough to be the mother of many of her competitors.

Japan has an expression, though, Bijin ni toshi nashi, literally “A beautiful woman has no age,” asserting that an attractive woman’s looks aren’t diminished by her numerical age. So if Nakagawa can pull off wearing a tiny bikini at 43, more power to her, fans said, and now she’s back again with a second DVD in which she wears a sailor suit school uniform for the first time in decades.

It didn’t take long for Nakagawa’s first DVD, Ashita Tenki ni Nare (or Hoping for Good Weather Tomorrow) to become a sales success. The meteorologist/model’s first DVD went on sale at the tail end of January, and before February was over, she’d already been approached about doing a follow-up.

The new DVD, titled Into the mystic, has just been released, and Nakagawa appeared at the Akihabara branch of electronics and media retailer Sofmap on June 27 to promote it.

To film Into the mystic, Nakagawa and her crew traveled to Pattaya, a Thai city of roughly 100,000 people on the Bay of Bangkok. Many of the new release’s scenes are framed as though the viewer is Nakagawa’s boyfriend on a romantic trip to Thailand, but the star herself says this sometimes presented a bit of a challenge for her.

“There’s a scene where I’m supposed to have gotten up before my boyfriend and wake him up,” she explains, “but I’m not really a morning person, so I don’t have much experience doing that. My first instinct is just to say, ‘Come on get up get up!’ like I’m trying to force myself to get out of bed.”

▼ The DVD’s front cover and spine (also pictured: Nakagawa’s navel)

YN 1

Still, Nakagawa says she gave it her all, describing working without an actor to play off as being like playing “air boyfriend” instead of “air guitar.” And besides, even if her performance isn’t completely flawless, there’s still the sight of the incredibly youthful 43-year-old in a schoolgirl uniform to look forward to.

YN 2

YN 3

“I wondered…are there really that many people who’d want to see me like that? But after I put it on and we started filming, it didn’t seem that weird,” recalls Nakagawa. “At 43, I never imagined I’d get to dress up like a high school girl, and I think it’s one of the highlights of the DVD.”

During a promotional event for her first DVD, an unprepared reporter asked Nakagawa if she had a boyfriend, to which the model replied that she’s in fact married. While giving an interview to celebrate the release of Into the mystic, Nakagawa was asked what her husband said when he saw her in the girlish outfit, to which she replied:

“Nothing in particular. My husband isn’t really all that interested in these kinds of things. He didn’t even watch my first DVD until I made him sit down and watch it with me, and when I asked him what he thought, he casually said, ‘Yeah, that’s cool.’”

Mr. Nakagawa’s penchant for understatement notwithstanding, we imagine plenty of people will be onboard with the idea of her wearing a sailor suit, and if you’re one of them, Into the mystic can be ordered here from Amazon Japan.

Yellow Shinken Sentai ranger Suzuka Morita transforms into swimsuit model

Many teenage boys and young men across Japan were probably sitting at the edge of their seats waiting for July 20. That day marked the release of a special DVD featuring photographs of the idol turned TV super-hero Suzuka Morita as she leaves behind her yellow ranger outfit for some skimpy bikinis.

▼ Shinken Yellow!

b31a9fb8

The 22-year-old Morita, affectionately known as Su-chan, started making a name for herself around 2008 when she joined the pop group Idoling!!!, which also had its own TV program. While she was in the group from 2008-2012, her real break came when she joined the cast of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger as the yellow sentai ranger in 2009.

▼ Here’s Su-chan in all of her Samurai Sentai Shinkenger glory.

21604596

Fighting her way into the hearts of boys and men until 2013, she’s now taken on a new role: bikini model.

cadfd405

Morita’s DVD (and BluRay), titled Yume Kou Tsutsu and put out by Line Communications, is a compilation of pictures and video of Su-chan prancing around in a variety of bikinis and lingerie.

▼ And what a variety of bikinis she has!

793c365e-s

Morita spent the photo shoot on the beaches of Shizuoka Prefecture’s Izu Peninsula with a bunch of crabs, later saying, “There were so many crabs, we just lazed around with the crabs.”

For many, this is a welcome change; some men reminisce about their boyhood crushes on the yellow ranger, only to find her now all grown up and strutting her stuff. Others, however, are taking offense, hoping their childhood image of the spunky heroine is never tainted by the evils of eroticism.

This might be a good time to mention that bikini modeling is nothing new for our dear Su-chan. Before her Idoling!!! and Sentei Shinkenger careers took off, Morita was featured in some DVDs at the age of 15 that were pretty risqué for a teenager. .

The release of Morita’s new 4,000-yen (US$32) DVD on July 20 is being accompanied by an event at Akihabara’s Sofmap Amusment Center on August 9.

Weird new Japanese website lets you flick a cute girl’s forehead to your heart’s content

Well, this is probably the weirdest snippet of news from Japan that you’ll read about all week.

On Friday, a new Japanese website was unveiled which has the sole purpose of allowing net users to forcefully flick their fingers into the forehead of a cute girl (an admonishing action known as a dekopin in Japanese) and watch her exasperated reaction, all done virtually through the screen, of course. After all, hasn’t that always been on your bucket list?

The new website is called Dekopin Bijo, which literally translates to “flick a beauty in the forehead.” Strange as it sounds, that name makes perfect sense because, well, that’s exactly what you do.

If you’re having trouble imagining what a dekopin would look like in real life, give this clip from a Japanese variety show a watch:

Let’s see how the new website works, shall we?

The initial screen when you go to the website shows a moving, smiling video of a cute girl’s face.

▼ Yup, that’s some serious cuteness going on right there.

1

Move your cursor over her forehead, however, and she squeezes her eyes shut in anticipation.

▼ Eek, don’t do it!

2

Give a nice click as if to flick your finger at her, then watch her react in real-time.

▼ She might even let out an audible sigh of grief.

3

Once you’ve exhausted that routine for a while, don’t exit the site yet, because there are three other girls just waiting to be chastised by you!

▼ That one on the left is totally loving it.

4

▼ She’s saying “ow,” but that little smile says otherwise.

5

We’re not exactly sure what the underlying purpose of this site is supposed to be. Is it for stress relief? A form of retaliation against someone by its creator? Either way, the Japanese internet has truly outdone itself in terms of weirdness yet again!

Hilarious avatar creator FaceRig steps up their game by enabling you to become great looking anime characters as well.

Technology nowadays has advanced so far that much of it can be classified as wish-fulfillment. Take a look at FaceRig, a program that you can use to turn your avatar on Skype into almost anything you can think of.

The tech isn’t new. Just turn on Snapchat and head on over to filters to see what we are talking about. But to say that FaceRig is simply a filter is not giving the program proper credit. FaceRig maps and tracks your face and transfers that movement to the face of a fully animated avatar. Users can record video or stream the results to anything that normally uses an active webcam like Skype, Twitch, or Hangouts.

While the avatars that come with the original program are traditional CG characters, a new module that was recently released allows you to live out your anime fantasies. Using this add-on, users can now become characters that are animated in a 2D/3D style more closely mimicking the animation you are used to watching in your favorite shows.

The module also lets users import their own drawings into the program so they can bring their personal creations to life.

▼ “Oh man…this is so pointless, but I want it.”

▼ “I really like the facial expression of the last girl with the pigtails.”

In order to use this module you will need the original FaceRig program from Holotech Studios, which you can grab on Steam for $14.99, while the FaceRig Live 2D module is $3.99. That’s a small price to pay for an unlimited amount of fun, and be sure to share your favorite avatars in the comments below.

Love cute anime girls? Love a tasty steak? This new book combines both into one glossy package of drool-worthy art!

We’ve all heard about “herbivore” folks in Japan, haven’t we? Reports say that young people are becoming increasingly less interested in the opposite sex. But on the flip side of the coin, there’s also “meat-eaters” – those who have big appetites for all things to do with, um, delights of the flesh.

But what if you’re someone who loves pretty ladies AND getting your chompers around delicious slabs of tasty meat, all at the same time? Well, now there’s a shiny coffee-table book from Japan which is tailored to your EXACT NEEDS, featuring, as it does, illustrations of super-cute illustrated sweeties AND some rather tantalizing meat photography, too!

The new book, titled “Book of Lovely Meat”, is available from Synthesis Design and published by Alice Books and features contributions from a wide range of artists (17 of them, in fact) who have provided illustrations of cute girls with a “meaty” theme. Interspersed with the illustrations, you’ll find some sexy food pics featuring dishes from 29 different restaurants from around Japan, including Okinawa.

▼ Drool.

▼Probably best to slip this one into a drawer when your vegetarian friends come round.

▼Let’s hope she doesn’t spill any sauce on that cute dress.

▼ There’s plenty here to lick your chops over — including actual chops!

The book retails for 1,200 yen (US$10) and you can order it right from the Alice Books website. And international shipping is apparently available, too!

Naughty Korean game show pushes the boundaries of acceptable content【Video】

It’s not what it looks like, honest.

Japan has long been known for its ridiculous game shows, which often feature some form of humorous(?) physical torture. But is Japanese TV even something that should be emulated? South Korea, which already has its fair share of weird and wonderful shows, apparently thinks so.

This clip from a Korean TV show has been doing the rounds on the internet this week, mostly thanks to its extremely eye-catching premise. While the girls in the clip are not—technically—doing anything sexual, the resulting footage of these very specifically designed challenges very much is.

Watch as the scantily dressed girls partake in various challenges such as using only their mouths to pick up conveniently phallic objects, and putting socks onto a fake leg using just their feet—all shot from some incredibly suggestive camera angles…

This clip comes from Korea’s “No More Show”, an adult-orientated talk-show which, while it may not exactly be the most respectable thing on the box, actually contains zero nudity and mostly features the host chatting with his gorgeous lady guests about a variety of “adult” topics, albeit with a few titillating games and contests thrown in for good measure.

Even so, I think we can agree that the show is pushing the limits of “risqué”, and should probably be reserved for those late-night spots which make the viewer feel vaguely ashamed for still being awake to watch them. After all, can you imagine how awkward it would be to accidentally turn this show on while watching TV with your mother?

Chinese fan creates air bubbles that feel like boobs

A new Chinese commercial features claims of an electric fan that generates an air pocket of wind that feels like a pair of breasts. Ingenious invention or just marketing?

The advertisement begins with a boy wearing a virtual reality headset who is conveniently transported to a world consisting of a beach with beautiful bikini clad women.

▼“These virtual reality headsets are totes amazeballs”

Screen shot 2016-07-02 at 9.44.15 AM

The boy proceeds to chase the women, which of course is totally fine in the virtual world – but alas, our young protagonist is accidentally chasing around real women in a department store.

When it appears all hope is lost for success, suddenly a well-endowed woman in a gold bikini walks towards the boy (in the virtual reality world) and he successfully gropes her chest.

▼Gold bikini girl approaches

Screen shot 2016-07-02 at 9.46.11 AM

This is where the marketing “geniuses” come in to play – the young man is actually groping the wind currents being generated by the Singfun Electric Group Co Ltd electric fan.

▼Here we see the young boy groping the wind pocket

Screen shot 2016-07-02 at 9.43.41 AM

Singfun claims that a twin set of fan blades produce wind currents that collide 40 centimetres from the fan head that, when touched, yield a “soft as boobs” sensation.

▼Singfun Electric Group’s incredible technology

Screen shot 2016-07-02 at 9.47.29 AM

Naturally, the story concludes with the boy buying the fan together with the virtual reality headset and ends up getting a nosebleed by enjoying both products simultaneously in the comfort of his own bedroom.

Whether the sensation the fan purports to create is real or fake, one thing is for sure, this commercial was a marketing success, gaining over 25 million views and sales having apparently risen 300 per cent — at least according to the company that manufactures the fans…

Art exhibition: How to flip a skirt in a cute way (Schoolgirl complex 4)

Screen shot 2016-07-05 at 9.55.27 PM

Yuki Aoyama’s How to flip a skirt in a cute way: Schoolgirl Complex 4 photography is apparently so good it needs a commemorative publication exhibition.

Photographer Yuki Aoyama is well known for his obsession with photographing schoolgirls and he is at it again with the latest in his series, How to flip a skirt in a cute way: Schoolgirl Complex 4.

As if three weren’t enough?

The exhibition will be held from July 22 to July 31 at the YUKAI HANDS Gallery in Waseda, Tokyo, to “commemorate” the beginning of sales of this brand new photo collection on June 17.

Yuki Aoyama is a decorated photographer, having won the 1997 Canon New Cosmos of Photography award for a motif of businessman and high school girls entitled, “A symbolic existence in Japanese society”, reflecting his own adolescence and his “father’s image”.

His chief works of photographic “art” include the “People jumping in the air” and “Salaryman” series, and the “Skin between knee-high socks and skirt” series of girls in school uniforms.

And of course lets not forget the schoolgirl complex series.

Well, if it’s called art it must be art, right? Perhaps the jury is still out on this one.

Aoyama’s latest photography series is apparently “of schoolgirls”, “by schoolgirls”, “for schoolgirls”. An original work of “a range of situations” of folded skirts both in “still” and while being “folded in action”.

Japanese actress Aoi Morikawa, 21, who features in the latest photography collection says, “There are beautiful girls in the photos. Even when I look at these photos I can’t seem to escape. That’s why I want to look again.”

Who could argue with that detailed synopsis of the artistic merit of Schoolgirl Complex 4?

Cosplayers and models share selfies to celebrate Bikini Day in Japan

Women in Japan and across the world commemorated the 70th birthday of the bikini on July 5 by showing off their beach bodies on the internet.

In 1946 Louis Reard, a Parisian fashion designer, invented a two-piece swimsuit called the bikini. While the risqué garment was originally declared sinful by the Vatican government and took many years to catch on, now, 70 years later, women around the world have happily embraced the humble bikini, and when it came to celebrating Bikini Day on July 5, they weren’t shy about showing off their feminine curves in their favourite two-pieces. In Japan, popular cosplayers and bikini models took to social media to share photos of themselves in the skimpy outfit, along with the hashtag #ビキニの日 (#bikini no hi/#Bikini Day), and the results were cute, sweet and sometimes a little bit shocking. Let’s take a look at some of the photos below.

Motor car racing model Junko Watanabe kept things light in a frilly aqua-blue number.

Yuno Mizu showed off some classic black-and-white monotones.

While 26-year-old gravure bikini model Mai Tsukamoto shared pictures of herself in four different outfits.

Model Roku Kanou showed off her curves in a bikini with the tiniest of lace triangles.

“Gurazeni Girl” Marino Suetsugu, who promotes the pro baseball manga Gurazeni, vamped it up in a number of colourful outfits.

Popular gravure idol Iyo Yoshimi showed off some different bikinis and a few of her favourite poses.

Cosplayers also celebrated the day of the bikini with a number of atmospheric photos, like this one from male cosplayer Nonomy, who looks stunning as Miki Hoshi from THE iDOLM@STER anime and video games.

Miko brings the Granblue Fantasy role-playing video game to life with an impressive hairpiece and some gorgeous shots.

Reku Momo gave the world a glimpse of her white bikini while dressed as Hana Midorigawa from Prison School.

Popular cosplayer Akira Itsuki wore a pastel bikini to go with her bright purple locks.

Until next summer, bikini lovers! Be sure to mark the date in your calendar and use the hashtag #ビキニの日 to join in the festivities next year!

Underwater Knee High Girls appear in new exhibition celebrating soft thighs and kaiju monsters

Nobody combines classic monsters and knee-high socks like Japan.

Earlier this year we were introduced to the world of “Sui-chu Niso” (“Underwater Knee-Socks”), which showcased a line of waterproof over-the-knee socks created by swimwear design brand Poolsider, all modelled at the bottom of a pool. The photographer behind the project, Manabu Koga, has a glowing resume, which includes work on several movies, like the 2012 horror flick Helter Skelter, and an underwater video shoot for Japanese band Urbangarde. Now, with more than a decade of experience at capturing girls in underwater scenes, Koga will be capturing models dressed as kaiju monsters from the classic series Ultraman.

▼ A sneak peek of the exhibition photos shows a girl in a pair of knee-highs adorned with the black-and-white stripes of Dada, one of Ultraman’s many nemeses.

The exhibition, featuring Poolsider’s socks, will be held in collaboration with Japanese anime and game journal, Dengeki G’s magazine, and Tsuburaya Productions, the Japanese special effects studio which produced the original Ultraman TV series after its founding in 1963.

▼ To see Dada in action, check out the short clip below.

While the rest of the exhibition photos are being kept under wraps until the August 5 opening in Harajuku, we can get an idea of what to expect from the ethereal images he’s been sharing in monthly photo book magazines.

While the underwater scenes showcase girls wearing over-the-knee socks, they also highlight one of their most appealing design features: the section of exposed skin on the thigh above the fabric, known in Japan as zettai ryouiki, or absolute territory. Usually located between sock and mini skirt, the “absolute territory” pictured in these photos goes several inches further, all the way up to the model’s bathers.

With an ever-growing fanbase dedicated to Koga’s Underwater Knee High Girls, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for the public in the Ultra Monster Underwater Niso Project Exhibition!

Let the breeze kiss your skin at the beach in this strappy “bondage” bikini from Japan

The bondage swimsuit appears to take styling cues from T.M. Revolution‘s famous “Hot Limit” music video.

From flower power swimwear to giant body bow ribbons, Japanese online retailer Buyma makes shopping for the unusual extra easy with its huge range of eye-catching outfits. The latest item from the site to make waves in Japan is the Strappy Bondage Bikini from trend store Pocket Tokyo, with an eye-popping, skin revealing design that only the bravest of the brave would dare to wear down at the beach this summer.

02

While the perfectly placed cut-outs are designed to show off feminine curves, the outfit is surprisingly well-suited to men’s bodies too. In fact, some in Japan are likening the bikini to the strappy black design seen on Japanese pop star Takanori Nishikawa, who goes by the stage name T.M. Revolution, in his 1998 music video for “Hot Limit”, one of his most iconic smash hits.

Twenty years on, the bondage bikini is leaving a lot less to the imagination, with thin cross-over straps and an extremely tight fit.

While all those revealing cut-outs would probably get us arrested for public indecency down at the beach, we can’t help but think this would be much better suited to someone who’s already proven themselves when it comes to pulling off unusual outfits, from Japanese-style fundoshi underwear to fishnet tops and extravagant gyaru fashion designs. Someone like our Japanese reporter, the incomparable Mr Sato!

Sato

Mr Sato danced up a storm with other members of the team as part of an entry into a competition to dance in T.M. Revolution’s new video, called “Everyone’s Hot Limit”. But that was earlier this year, before we knew about the bondage bikini and everyone had to make do with strips of black tape instead.

Now with this new bikini on the market, we’ll have to send word over to Mr. Sato to let him know he needs to clear a space in his wardrobe of skimpy thong-like things. Although even this pales in comparison to some of the shocking numbers he’s paraded around in before!

The Strappy Bondage Bikini retails for 8,800 yen (US$83.35) on Buyma, and can be purchased with a set of black thigh-high socks for an extra US$45 from the Pocket Tokyo website. Angel Market also offers international shipping, although the design is currently sold out online.

“Cute Japanese girls blowing on hot coffee” immortalised in online photography project

Cute Japanese girls blowing on your cup of joe? If that’s your thing, this website should be relevant to your interests!

If you’re a fan of Japanese media like manga and anime, you’ll be familiar with certain “romantic setpieces” which regularly crop up, like the famous “kabe-don” (wall pound) and the more niche “ago-kui” (chin lift) and “sode-kuru” (sleeve tuck). Basically, cute little scenes that take place between couples with such regularity they’ve practically become memes.

Another example would be a cute girl blowing on a guy’s hot coffee to cool it down. The combination of kindness and implied intimacy in the act is something that translates as “totally adorable”, and now that act has been immortalized in a photography project that’s been launched online.

“Fuu-Fuu” (an onomatopoeic word for the sound of blowing air between one’s lips) is the name of the website and its accompanying Facebook page, which has as its sole content a wide collection of photos of cute girls blowing on hot coffee.

The website is the work of photographer Keisuke Inoue and designer Sakas Hayasaka, and is the culmination of six months of photo shooting, followed by three months of design and website coding. The project is ongoing, with plans to keep adding to the roster of photographs.

The creators are also actively seeking models to work on the project, in case you or anyone you know are interested in blowing on some hot coffee!

Interview delves into how Japanese men feel about dating “chubby” women【Video】

You probably aren’t going to be surprised by many of the responses…

When describing a person, “chubby” can be interpreted in a few different ways. For example, if you are talking about little kids, then it generally means they have a bit of excess weight in a pleasant or attractive way. When chubby is used to describe adults though, there’s a bit of a grey area in whether or not chubby is a good thing or bad. The Japanese language has a similarly ambiguous word, pocchari which, depending on the context and who you’re talking to, can be positive or negative.

Japan has attempted to take the word “chubby” and make it into a selling point for a number of ventures, including maid cafes and J-pop idols. Yet even with these small steps towards a more positive body images in general, there is still a significant amount of negativity surrounding the word. This become starkly apparent in a video from the YouTube series Find Your Love In Japan, where the host asks men whether or not they’d date chubby women and almost all the men interviewed say, “No.”

If you were angered or frustrated at any point in the video, know that you weren’t the only one. This probably isn’t limited to Japanese men though, as many guys from around the world would likely answer the question in a similar fashion, so it would be unfair to focus on these respondents exclusively. Still, it’s never pleasant to hear someone criticize other people based on how much they weigh, even when they are asked to be candidly honest.

Instead, take heart what one interviewee said, that size is completely objective and loving each other is much more important. We’d say it’s better to pick someone based on their personality rather than their looks, because those are the relationships that are more likely to last. Though we’d also say that maybe we all have better stuff to that worry about then how attractive we think others are…

Japanese schoolgirl showdown 4: Dating girls in summer kimono vs. western dress【Poll】

Schoolgirl

More than 50,000 votes have been tallied and the results are in! Which girl do you think won at the polls?

Japanese illustrator and Twitter user @niichi021 has been conducting a number of popular polls online, asking followers to choose between the two girls depicted in his artworks — both appealing but totally different in character. Early last year, he broached the topic of sensible-looking vs. non-sensible-looking girls, followed shortly by a poll for girls who bundle up in winter vs. those who don’t, and then a look at girls who prefer to cook or give hugs. Now he’s back with a summer festival edition that asks the question “Who do you prefer – girls who take up a boyfriend’s request to wear a yukata summer kimono or a girl who decides to beat the heat in a western outfit instead?”

The girl on the right is dressed up in traditional summer festival attire, often worn by young lovers on evening dates to help make the night extra romantic and memorable. It might be the first time for her to dress herself in the fiddly garment, perhaps even taking up to two hours to perfect, and while it can be hot to wear, she’ll carry things like cotton hand towels and a parasol to help stay cool, and might even attach cold packs to her arms and the nape of her neck to keep comfortable during the hot summer evening. Her motto is “Sure, it’s a little hot, but it’s worth it because it’s a special evening”.

The girl on the left is equally gorgeous but totally opposite in character. She prefers to stay cool above all else, wearing lightweight clothes that are easy to move around in, wanting to enjoy the date rather than having to worry about the heat. Her motto is “Oh, were you hoping I’d wear a yukata? I’ll wear one next year. It looked hot so I thought I’d wear a cool outfit instead.”

As the votes were being tallied, the two summertime character types were neck-and-neck for quite some time. After the first 5,210 votes, and with 23 hours left to go, the split was an even 50 percent between the two.

After just one day online, the poll closed with more than 57,000 votes received. The winner was the yukata-clad girl on the right, who just scraped into the lead at the end with 52 percent, or 29,700 votes, compared to the free-spirited character on the left, who scored 48 percent, with 27,400 votes.

Whether the girl in yukata won for looks, demureness or romanticism, or perhaps a combination of all three, it’s hard to say. While we’re glad the strong, independent woman on the left didn’t lag too far behind the traditional girl on the right, now we’d like to see a female illustrator take up the brush with a poll of her own. If the question was reversed to ask “Which do you prefer – the man who’s upset when you don’t wear a yukata on a summer date like he asked or the man who isn’t?”, we wonder what the results would be!

Taiwan noodle shop’s popularity skyrockets and it’s not because of the noodles

Apparently the old adage that sex sells even applies to beef noodle restaurants.

The “Dameng Beef Noodles” restaurant has risen to fame in Taiwan but it’s not the food that’s attracting all of the attention. Instead, it’s shop owner Dameng Meizi, who has managed to lift the profile of her shop by dressing in revealing outfits and cosplay uniforms. No one ever said beef noodles and bunny girl outfits don’t mix!

Dameng Meizi worked as a video game broadcaster from November 2015 until March this year when she announced she would launch a noodle shop with investment money collected from her friends – and the store has already been inundated with customers and fans.

The restaurateur has received criticism for her outfits but she claims that she was wearing revealing clothes even before she opened the shop saying, “This is how I was before.” She says she had no intention of using sexy outfits to sell her food – she wants to be “successful through taste”.

See this video below of Dameng Meizi running her shop — as well as customers that might be there for more than just the culinary delights.

The price for a bowl of beef noodles is 90 Taiwan dollars (about US$2.83). The shop also serves gyoza and other side dishes.

If you are keen to check it out Dameng Beef Noodles, the restaurant is located at No. 78, Heping St, Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, Taiwan 235.
